Monteros is an active performer/choreographer as well as an Associate Professor at the University of Calgary in the Dance Program. She has been a guest teacher and performer for numerous dance companies, universities and festivals. The past 13 years of her career have been committed to examining and developing dance work in Poland. Monteros has a Master of Arts in Dance from UCLA, a BFA from the University of Utah, and has studied and danced with a number of distinguished dance artists through her career. She has performed in the work of a number of companies and choreographers including the Seattle based Strong Wind, Wild Horses, with Davida Monk’s M-Body, with Paula Ross, Alpo Aaltokoski and Avi Kaiser. She has created work for Silesian Dance Theatre, Jojo Oulu Dance Centre, Risa Steinberg (NY), Springboard Dance Collective, EKO Dance Projects, Children in Dance,The State Ballet School in Bytom,and for professional theatre and film. She was a Fulbright Award recipient and has received honorary awards from two institutions in Gdansk for her contributions to dance in that city. Upcoming projects include collaborations with Christine Fricker in France, and with Pirjo Yli-Maunula in Finland. This season she will collaborate with Mochniej on the development of the Centre for Movement Arts and the new Eko Dance Projects.
